How did they ever make TWO movies of LOLITA?

I have no doubt in saying that Kubrick's Lolita is the best version ever made, but I appreciated even the one by Adrien Lyne, I found Dominique Swain quite perfect in the role of Lolita!
Both movies have an amazing photography and ENVIABLE COSTUMES (sunglasses above all <3)........
